About this site
Retirement Dates is a free reference that turns a birth date into the retirement-related dates that apply to it, using the official rules, each linked to its source.
Who publishes it
The site is published by SELC Enterprises, LLC. It is unsigned on purpose: the content stands on its sources, not on anyone's name. Every rule cites the regulation or official page it comes from, so you can check it yourself.
How the content is checked
Each figure and rule is stored once, in a single data file, with its value, the year it applies to, its source, and the date it was last checked against that source. Pages draw their figures from that file, and the worked examples are calculated from it when the site is built, so a figure reads the same on every page.
- Cited pages are opened and read before they are used, and links are checked to make sure they still lead to a real page. Two official pages block automated checks and couldn't be opened that way; the sources page says how their links were confirmed.
- Yearly figures, like premiums and contribution limits, are flagged automatically when the year they apply to has passed, so a 2026 figure can't quietly stand in for 2027.
- Figures for a coming year go up only after the agency that sets them has published them. The one projection shown, CMS's projected average drug-plan premium for 2027, is labeled as a projection.
- The date logic in the tools is tested against a table of birthdays, including the 1st of a month, January 1 and February 29.
Corrections
If something here is wrong or out of date, email hello@retirementdates.com with the page and, if you can, the official source that shows the right figure. Corrections are made against the official source, and the checked date for that figure changes with it.
What this site doesn't do
- It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Social Security, Medicare, CMS, the IRS or any government agency.
- It doesn't sell insurance, recommend plans, take commissions or referral fees, or pass anyone's details to agents or brokers. There are no affiliate links on this site.
- It doesn't give advice for your situation. It explains the rules and works out dates; decisions about your coverage and benefits are yours, and the agencies make the official determinations.
- It doesn't keep what you type. The tools run in your browser.
Advertising
The site is paid for by advertising from Google. Ads are kept off this page, the sources, privacy and contact pages, and the error page. An ad is never a recommendation from this site. Be cautious with any ad or call that offers to "check your Medicare benefits" or asks for your Medicare Number; Medicare.gov says Medicare will never call you to sell you anything.1
